This is a story of staggering musical progress and development, that took the Beatles from the simplistic but catchy 'Love Me Do' to the groundbreaking triumph of 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' in fewer than five years.
This exclusive DVD brings new, fresh and different insight into the Beatles phenomenon. It seeks the opinion, memories, recollections and views of a host of people who were close to the band, who saw them making music, who witnessed their effect on the world from close quarters, who contributed to the incredible Beatles story.
Hear the controversial story of Pete Best from the man himself, in an exclusive interview that covers his time with the band; Hamburg; and the murky circumstances that surrounded the departure of one of the fans' favourites!
We hear from Norman Smith, who as Hurricane Smith had hits of his own in the seventies but who as an Abbey Road engineer worked on Beatles hits such as She Loves You, A Hard Day's Night and I Want To Hold Your Hand. Other contributors include Bill Harry, editor of the legendary Liverpool music paper Mersey Beat; Tony Barrow, the PR man at Brian Epstein's NEMS company, who wrote many of the album's sleeve notes; Geoffrey Ellis, Managing Director of NEMS; and Dave Robinson, a man who took many photographs of the band during the excitement of the Cavern era in Liverpool.
And naturally there's the band itself, belting out the hits in glorious black and white, reminding us all why they were and still are the world's greatest ever rock group.
