In late June 1966, The Beatles played three celebrated concerts at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
On August 6, they released their album Revolver, which broke new musical ground in terms of sound and instrumental variation.
The Beatles used classical elements and pre-recorded tape loops to embellish lengthy, elaborate songs like Eleanor Rigby, Good Day Sunshine, I'm Only Sleeping, For No One, and the psychedelic-flavoured Tomorrow Never Knows.
In autumn that same year the band took a three-months vacation from which they emerged with a totally different image: their mushroom hair style was a thing of the past, their black suits had been replaced by colourful stage outfits, and all band members had grown a moustache.
That means The Beatles At The Budokan is one of the last film documents of the Fab Four sporting their legendary image of the early years.
